Gumboot Friday - Words of kindness for our community.

Image
Today, Friday 5th April is NZ's inaugural Gumboot day. Mike King, NZer, of the year is hoping to raise $2 million dollars for mental health. In Te Waka Ako, some students identified Mental Health as an issue that they felt needed to be addressed more effectively. One student thought one way we could spread happiness and kindness to people in our community, was leaving notes of inspiration and kindness in peoples letterboxes. So, that's what we are going to do! Look out for a random note of kindness coming to a letterbox near you!

Swimming @ Cameron Pools...

Image
We have been going to swimming at Cameron Pools for a few weeks now. We travel by bus with Mokoroa on a Tuesday and Thursday. Our lessons have been focused around being safe around water. This week we got to wear life jackets, which was pretty cool. We can't wait to see what we are going to learn next!

Getting to know me!

Image
Manukau have been working on completing "Getting to know you" forms, so we can get to know each other better. It has been really interesting reading them and learning new things about each other.

Talofa! Welcome to 2019

I'm excited to be in Manukau this year and I am looking forward to be working with our fabulous senior students. We have been busy getting to know each other and how things work in Te Waka Ako. We have been working on team building and learning abut the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Look out for our digital pepeha on  our blogs!
